Our Presentation: Herbal Support for Cold and Flu

Presenter:  Lauren Eadline

We will go over traditional remedies for preventing and treating cold and flu during the winter months, with special emphasis on personal empowerment, herbal energetics, and re-understanding the role of fever.

Raised locally, Lauren has for years been involved in the organic farming and local food movement in Utica. She combines her continued advocacy for fresh, sustainable food systems with her studies in health, nutrition and wellness. Lauren is currently a post-secondary Health and Life Sciences student, in her second year of apprenticeship at Hawthorne Hill Herbs in Newport, NY and pursuing her RH (Registered Herbalist) from the American Herbalist Guild. Her future plans involve a blend of formal health practitionership with continued work in the fields of sustainable education and outreach. Her past endeavors in the Utica community included programs such as Food Not Bombs, Utica Community Gardens, Occupy Utica and a continued working partnership with Rust2Green Utica. She is the current secretary of Lifelong Wellness of Central New York, the founder and instructor of The Family Health and Wellness Workshop series at The Family Nurturing Center, a serving member of the Mohawk Valley Food Action Network and the future leader of the Thea Bowman Educational Garden.

Movie Night:  Tuesday, February 28, 2012  7:00 PM

38 Woodberry Road, New Hartford

For February, we are continuing Dr. David R. Hawkins, February 2002 lecture, "Radical Subjectivity: The "I" of Self". Dr. Hawkins gives examples of the role of the ego in our lives and helps us to see how we are affected by it, what we get out of it, and where we would be without it. Bring snacks and a drink and an open mind !
